The Mothers Union at St James

The Mothers Union has a million members in 60 countries. In this country the headquarters is at Mary Summer House in London, named after its founder.

Information can be found on the website www.themothersunion.org

There are local committees in each Deanery and each diocese in England has an office: see www.mothersunionchester.co.uk

The group at St. James meets monthly on the third Wednesday in the church room. Meetings usually begin at 2:15 with a short service followed by a variety of activities. Recent talks have been about: Lace, Meditation on Mary, In the Land Army, Study on Parables, Plants in medicine and Papercraft which led to an activity day when we discovered it was not as easy as it looked.

Our 2008 programme will be available shortly

Our members attend the services in the Deanery which visit the different branches in turn and we also participate in the Corporate Communion regularly.

As well as being involved in church activities we support our local Adullam home for single parents and others in difficulty and are also enthusiastic suppliers of Teddies for tragedies and garments for premature baby units. Our latest project is to help with the provision of a "virtual baby" for use by teenagers in the local high school.
