Vernon Spicer - Choir Director

Vernon Spicer has been a member of the St. James' congregation for nearly 40 years, and is a retired headmaster. Following three years service in the R.A.F. (two of which were in Palestine ), he qualified as a teacher at St. Peter's C.E. College , Saltley, Birmingham . He taught at schools in Worcester , Worcestershire, Lancashire and Staffordshire. His specialist subjects were Religious Education and Music. At St. James he has served as Warden, member of the P.C.C., server, chorister, cleaner and groundsman!

Latterly he has become Choir Director. He was admitted to the office of Reader by Geoffrey, Bishop of Stockport, in 1999. His main interests are gardening, and singing. For a number of years he sang in the Three Choirs Festival as a member of the Worcester chorus, in the City of Birmingham Choir, and for the last few years has been a member of the Congleton Choral Society.
